Message from the Organizer

Maxim Behar

Dear Behars from all over the world,

We all will be absolutely happy to meet you in May in the beautiful city of Béjar, not far way from Salamanca.

The idea to meet there is not a new one. Back in 2004, a group of Behars visited the city, and this was the first historical step. Unfortunately, neither me, my father nor my family was able to join them, and I immediately counted this as our big mistake.

Since then, in my heart, soul, and thoughts, the idea of making another, much bigger Behar Global Summit has stayed every day and every hour in my thoughts. Back in 2012, I visited the city with my great friend from Barcelona, Luis Bassat, and his wife Carmen, and talked to the local authorities about that, but we did not realize it.

In 2023, I went again to Béjar with my wife Veneta and, purely by coincidence, met a fantastic person – Luis Francisco Martín Hernández, who at that time was Director of the Cultural Center in Béjar. A couple of months ago, he was elected Mayor of Béjar, and this time it was not coincidental! Francisco embraced the idea even during our first meeting and now I am more than sure he will be more than happy to meet you all.

Come to Béjar! Meet the places where your ancestors came from, breathe the air, taste the food, see the happy people, and visit the fantastic historical sites. Me and my wife will also be happy to meet you, and till then – if you have any questions or recommendations, please write me, and I will respond immediately to each of you. Also, join our Facebook “Group Behars in the World” page, and we will update you with all the news about our Summit there.

See you in Béjar!
Maxim Behar
